Kids Inc offers a variety of opportunities for kids to interact, learn,
and develop with each other and their parents.  All groups require
payment before first session.  Groups will begin when minimum
number have registered for group.
Kimberly Levitan, LCSW, Educational Groups

1.  "I am the Boss of my Body" is a curriculum that teaches the prevention of sexual
abuse and personal safety
to children grades K-5 in a clear, positive and FUN way. This
is a
one time, hour-long group.  $25 per child.

2.   
Feelings Group - This group explores various feelings, what they look like and feel
like, and how to express feelings in a healthy and positive way.  Throughout this
four-week group, children will engage in both individual work and peer activities with
hands on fun and games. The curriculum may be geared towards
younger children
(ages 4-6) or older children (ages 7-10)
. $25/week (4 week commitment required)

3.   
Stress Management - Feeling stressed?  These days, most of us would probably
answer YES! Well it's time to take care of YOU! This
one time, two-hour educational
program will address both physiological and psychological responses to stress and
ways to combat stress (such as nutrition, boundary setting, humor, self-care, etc.).  If you
are a
parent, caregiver, or...well...just human...this class if for you! $35

4.  
"When 'Time Out' Doesn't Work" - Many of us parents have those moments when we
feel like we have tried everything but nothing is working!  This
one time, two-hour
educational program will help parents better understand our children's behavior and their
goals behind the misbehavior so that we may effectively address the issue.  We will
discuss the use of logical consequences, age appropriate choices and many creative
parenting techniques that will leave any
mom, dad, or caregiver feeling re-energized and
confident!  $35 per person/$40 per couple
Academic Tutoring
with Jennifer Markey

  • Academic tutoring for children of all grade levels
  • Reading, writing and math
  • Determining learning styles
  • One-on-one work with your child
  • Collaboration with parents and teachers to assess the students’ needs and how
    best to address them

Jennifer Markey has a Masters degree in Education and has taught in both the public and
private setting.

C.O.D.E.-Children Of Divorce Expressing their feelings
with Amy Hyken-Lande

This 8-week group is geared towards children who are experiencing difficulties dealing
with their parents' divorce
, and the emotions that go along with it.  In a group setting,
the children will see that they are not alone. We will cover commonly expressed feelings,  
how to express those feelings in a healthy manner, stages/challenges  that they may go
through and coping skills. The group begins on
July 6th, at 5:00. $25 per child/per group
(your registration of $25 reserves their spot, and pays for the first group). For further

                                        Entertaining Mathematics: Card Games
                                            with Elizabeth Appelbaum, Ph.D.
               
                                                             Students learn strategy and number facts with the card game
                                       Casino. It is a great game for 2, 3, or 4 players, children or
                                       adults, evoking laughter and sociability. The leader has a Ph.D.  in
mathematics and many years experience teaching mathematics at all levels, including
grade school mathematics, mathematics for elementary teachers, algebra, and calculus.  
We invite parents to attend with their children, at no additional charge.  There is
no
minimum age
, but participants need to know addition of one-digit numbers, like 7 + 6 =
13.  Everybody gets a
souvenir deck of cards and a handout explaining the game.  Limit:  
8 participants.  
One session, 1 1/2 hours.                                                  
         Price:    $30 per person.      
         Dates:   Wednesday, June 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 pm. ;

Mathematical Tutoring with Elizabeth Appelbaum, Ph.D.
Elizabeth Appelbaum has years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics and
statistics, all levels, grade school through graduate school. She uses computer software,
manipulative materials, and old-fashioned drill to help students succeed and to reveal
the delight of mathematics. She can help students who are falling behind and challenge
gifted students.
